Cape Town areas to face nine-hour water supply disruption

Parts of Cape Town will experience a nine-hour water supply disruption on Tuesday, 3 September, due to planned maintenance.

The municipality also warned that for a short period after the supply has been restored, the water may be discoloured or look milky. This is because of trapped air in the pipes. If left to stand in a glass, the appearance will become clear, like normal.

WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION IN THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN

The City of Cape Town said maintenance work, including pipe and valve installations, repairs, and replacements, will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Part of Claremont and Newlands—The municipality said the Water and Sanitation Directorate needs to urgently repair a connection from the 300mm diameter pipeline into the main water supply in Main Road, Claremont, from 9:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday, September 3.

This will result in the disruption of the water supply during this period to the area bounded by Sans Souci Street, the railway line, Stellenberg Avenue, and Cavendish Street, including the Stadium On Main and Cavendish Shopping Centres in Claremont.

In addition, some consumers may experience no water and others low water pressure. As a precautionary measure, residents and businesses must store enough water in advance.
