Kaizer Chiefs have readied a new contract extension for Ranga Chivaviro after his encouraging start to the 2024-2025 campaign.
Chivaviro is in line for a new deal
After scoring twice in two Betway Premiership games on the bounce, 32-year-old former Marumo Gallants striker Ranga Chivaviro could be rewarded with new terms at Naturena.
A spokesperson snl24, “In most cases, the club has waited until the last minute to extend player contracts, and they don’t want to do that with Ranga [Chivaviro], and that’s why they may already offer him a new two-year deal. It’s not a done deal, as there is still some work to do,
“What they are doing is to make sure that as they are looking for another striker to sign, maybe in January, they don’t lose the one they have in the team. At the moment in the team, he is the outright striker that the coach is depending on, and a new two-year contract would keep him there even if they sign a new striker”, he added.
Is Ranga a new man?
Ranga Chivaviro battled in his debut campaign for Chiefs but things are looking a little rosier in 2024-2025. The former Gallants man, incredibly prolific for his old team, has scored in back-to-back Betway Premiership matches, recently against Sundowns. He bagged an astonishing 17 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Gallants in the 2022-2023 campaign but the challenge now will be for him to keep that up. Scoring in two consecutive games is one thing, bagging double figures at the very least is another thing altogether.
Betway Premiership return edges nearer
Amakhosi, meanwhile, have just under two weeks to wait until their next Betway Premiership fixture. They’ve started this campaign in decent fashion, with two wins from three, and a recent defeat to Sundowns. Their goal, of course, will be to compete for next season’s MTN8 at a minimum. Here are their next few fixtures:
- SuperSport United – Saturday, October 26, Lucas Moripe Stadium, 17:30
- Magesi FC – Wednesday, October 30, Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, 19:30
- Royal AM – Sunday, November 9 – FNB Stadium, 17:30
Does Chivaviro still have value to offer the Chiefs first team?
