Gospel singer Solomon Molokoane known as Solly Moholo, who fell ill following his performances in Botswana in early August has died at 65.

The news of Solly Moholo’s passing was confirmed by his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 2 October.
“It is with great sadness that we are informing you on behalf of the Molokoane family, that is Solly Moholo’s family, that our beloved legend “Solly Moholo” has sadly passed on,” the statement reads.
The fan-favourite gospel singer died whilst in hospital, according to the statement.
“Solly Moholo was hospitalised after falling ill following his pre album launch tour in Botswana. He will be sorely missed. May his laughter continue to echo the walls of heaven. Let us remember him fondly for the healing music he gave us over the years,” reads the statement.
The family also pleaded for privacy and time to mourn his passing and prepare for his burial.
The singer was hospitalised in Botswana after falling ill and was transferred to a South African hospital on Wednesday, 28 August.
The Soshanguve-born singer’s crew reported that his health deteriorated on the way to the hotel where he stayed after his performances in Botswana.
His management team also told TshisaLIVE that the family asked his fans to put him in their prayers.
The South African will share details of his memorial and funeral in the coming days.
